It has been two weeks since the death of George Floyd.
Floyd was a 46-year-old man apprehended by police outside a Minneapolis store because he had offered a cashier in the store a counterfeit $20 bill. Officer Derek Chauvin, against all common sense and standard police procedure, decided to kneel on Floyd’s neck as Floyd lay on the ground. Chauvin remained there for nine minutes. George Floyd died.
There are countless conspiracy theories about Floyd and the protests and riots that resulted from his death. There are theories that Floyd was not an unemployed security guard but a “crisis actor” paid to fake his death. There are theories that Chauvin was never a police officer but instead another crisis actor. There is a theory that Chauvin and Floyd were both involved in human trafficking. There is the overarching theory that everything that has happened since Floyd’s death has been part of a long-planned takeover by Communists, Democrats, Russians, globalists, Jews or any number of other so-called “enemies within.”
I will not be addressing even one of these theories on this blog, or anywhere else.
That is because they are noise. They are a loud, persistent drone that keeps us from listening to the only things that we should be hearing in relation to the death of George Floyd and the protests occurring around the world in response to his death. Those things are:
- Racism is not over. We live it everyday. It is a dark undercurrent of American life and no matter how we try to mask it, wave it away or rationalize it, it will never go away until we meet it head-on and address it in every way we possibly can.
- Police brutality and the militarization of police forces across the U.S. are real and present dangers to all citizens, but particularly the minorities and people in marginalized neighbourhoods and communities who are considered fair game by a certain type of officer. This has gone on too long. We all knew about it. It has to stop.
Unless you are tackling one of these two issues, I am not interested in anything you have to say about George Floyd and the aftermath of his death. Let’s fix the real problems before we start imagining new ones.

Errors which originated from others conspiracy theories which came from partial glimpses of the tragic & sad events of that day.
Just for one, that Chauvin kneeled on Floyd’s neck for 9+ minutes?

1. Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes.
2. Systemic racism is still here.
3. Cops are still killing us.
